I feel unrestricted with my forest wagon
Rune Andersson lives on his parents' farm near Kinna. He is retired and keeps busy with his 41-hectare farm, of which 29 hectares are productive forest, and he leases out the arable land. Rune thinks it is important that the forest is properly managed. To facilitate work in the forest, he uses a Vreten 1000 with a 65-40N crane together with a Valtra A-75. In this interview, Rune tells us more about the forest trailer and his experience.
When Rune works in the forest, he uses the cart a lot. He says that age is starting to limit his mobility, but that he feels free with his Vreten 1000. Rune explains that he has a very good road system in his forest. What he can't reach with the crane he uses his radio-controlled winch for.
What challenges do you face in the forest?
- It was after the January storm Gudrun in 2005 that the need for a forestry trailer was realized. "Previously, I had a wire crane and bogie trailer with a small tractor. But the storm swept down a lot of forest for me and I needed better machinery. So I bought a Valtra A-75 and a forestry trailer from Vreten (1000)," explains Rune.
Rune then explains that in 2016 he switched to a new Vreten 1000 with an updated crane, wider wheels, brakes on the front bogie and hub drive on the rear wheels.
- I am very happy with the crane that lifts any log. Also, Vreten 1000's heavy-duty dual-cylinder frame steering caught my eye when choosing. It goes further back in the trailer and gives me a better turning radius. Thanks to the rear hub drive, I can have chains on, which is a big plus. It is a big advantage over many other options.
How does Vreten 1000 help your work?
- It is a must for me to get the wood out of the forest. I can't manage without Trailer and tractor. I drive everything myself to spare the road network and wait until there is good bearing capacity. The trailer is smooth and stable thanks to the combination of double frame and central tube frame.
Rune says that the contact with Vreten worked very well. He started by looking at the trailer during a trade fair. Then he was involved and contributed with ideas for how he wanted a tipper. He also explains that the cooperation with Christian Yström, sales manager at Vreten, has been excellent and that he has received a lot of help from Christian.
- I met Christian at the Forestry Fair and talked a bit. Then we discussed solutions on flatbeds. We came to the conclusion that it's possible to have two tipping plungers when there is a center frame. After that I visited Vreten and presented my ideas. I was well received and they listened to my suggestions. Some were used in their product development even further. The big advantage is above all that you get the benefit of the forestry cart both summer and winter. I replace the grapple with a grapple bucket and can drive soil, stone and gravel when it is not forest season.
Would you recommend Vreten 1000?
- Absolutely! I have already done it on many occasions, I have only good experiences. The whole experience has been very positive and I'm very happy when I'm out with my team," concludes Rune.
We at Vreten say a big thank you to Rune who shares his experience of Vreten 1000. Would you like to tell us about your experience of Vreten and your product? Or do you want to know more about Vreten 1000? You are very welcome to contact us.
