From sketch to reality
Pär-Ola Berggren owns a small agricultural property with land and forest. He works as a machine operator for Örkelljunga municipality. It is a varied job that includes forestry work, mowing, road maintenance and street sweeping. For two years, Pär-Ola thought about how he could streamline his working day and become more flexible. In this interview, you can read more about a versatile forestry trailer that facilitates real-life challenges during a working day.
It was time to think differently
The story behind the decision to consider a new forestry trailer was that Örkelljunga municipality had a regular forestry trailer and a switcher trailer with a crane. Instead of taking care of two machines, Pär-Ola wondered if there was another way. He started thinking about the design of a Trailer that streamlines work while being cost-effective. This resulted in a customized Vreten 1100 with a 77-30 crane. But what is it that makes the forestry trailer special?
Versatile tasks require a flexible Trailer
Örkelljunga municipality's new forestry trailer from Vreten is equipped with a tipping platform, folding sides, a net superstructure and four removable posts for the platform. The dimensions of the flatbed in particular have been specially ordered to suit Pär-Ola's daily tasks and the municipality's operations.
The flexibility of the tipping platform and the ability to easily change the function of the trailer make it versatile and smart. During the winter it is used as a regular forestry trailer. But when spring begins and until late fall, the tipper is used for all kinds of transport for, for example, gravel, soil, compost piles, rice and firewood transport along the Skåneleden. In short - everything that can be handled with a crane is handled.
All question marks turned into exclamation marks
Turning sketches into reality required close collaboration. Pär-Ola says that he was met with great commitment from the employees at Vreten. Together, they discussed the pros and cons to constantly work out the best solution. He further explains that he is very pleased with how Vreten listened to his wishes and worked to meet all needs.
Furthermore, Pär-Ola explains that the end result is stable and sustainable in practical terms. The trailer runs more or less constantly for five months of the year and is now in its sixth year. The only thing that has needed to be done during these years is a tire change. It really is an incredibly stable and good construction.
How does the forestry trailer make your workday easier?
- Its versatility makes a big difference. The trailer is extremely flexible and if I am sent out on something, I am quickly ready for unexpected tasks. I always have the poles with me and can quickly adjust as needed. It's a perfect solution for a varied job where I have to make many changes," says Pär-Ola Berggren.
Pär-Ola also says that he is very pleased with Örkelljunga municipality's forestry trailer. He explains that it is difficult to describe the feeling. It's hard to imagine that something you've been thinking about for a couple of years has become a reality - and that the result was so good.
Would you recommend Vreten och vagnen to others?
- Absolutely. Every day of the week. Some have been here to look and I have been stopped several times by curious people asking questions and wanting to know more. The trolley really attracts fun attention.
