"On race days, we want to use our Planex Pro to get the best possible surface"

Reference case

Ulf Månsson has been working as track master at Rommetravet in Borlänge for 17 years. With the task of keeping the racetrack perfectly prepared for horses and drivers, he already uses an older model of Vretens Arena leveler. When it was time to upgrade the older grader, it was once again a Vreten, and this time a Planex Pro. Here Ulf tells us why.

- At Rommetravet, we organize the fourth most trotting races in Sweden. We have training sessions daily and races almost once a week. We used to have Vreten's older model of Arena leveler, and on average we run the track six days a week, three times a day," explains Ulf.

When Ulf looked for an upgrade to a new cord, he chose it carefully.

- Before buying our new Arena leveler , we compared Vreten's new models with the competitors. In the end, it was a Planex Pro from Vreten, as we simply thought it was the best. I felt that the design was improved from the older model we already have.

The front bogie wheels now have an edge that makes the wheels not get stuck so easily. Twin wheels on the blade, one crank instead of four and adjustment for how hard the blade should go were also features that I saw as beneficial.

Ulf says that the older racetrack sled from Vreten is still used as a complement to the new one.

- On training days, we use our older sled to avoid unnecessary wear on our new one. Our Vreten also help us in case of thawing and snow to scrape off material.

But on race days, we like to use our Planex Pro to get the best possible surface. It is also used a few times a week to lift up the material and avoid it falling down towards the curves. This is to ensure that the racetrack's dosage is maintained and provides perfect conditions.

Ulf also says that he would recommend others to choose Vretens Arena levelers to keep up with the surface.

- I would recommend it because it works so well. We have had our new sling for two years now and I know we bought it at the same time as four other racetracks. It feels durable, easy to adjust and you can tell the product has improved in some areas. I also think it has worked very well with the wheel bearings. In short, everything is better!
